When it comes to oral health the teeth dominate the conversation with people and even many dentists stressing brushing teeth but often neglecting to mention care for the gums. The gums support and nourish the teeth and are subject to decay and the disease it can cause. Periodontal disease is a serious problem that can result in the loss of teeth and jawbone material. In
Monsey periodontal treatment from our doctor, Dr. Jonathan Tiger, DMD can help to save the patient’s teeth.
Gum disease develops from a bacterial infection and will eventually causes the gums to pull away from the teeth and form deep pockets between the gum and tooth. These are the places where the bacteria colonies thrive. The deeper the pockets the worse the periodontal disease has progressed. Eventually the gums will no longer be able to support the tooth and it may be lost. Our doctor will clean out the infection and calming the tooth root. In cases where the periodontal disease is moderate to severe Monsey periodontal treatment may include surgery to reduce and reattach the pockets. Our doctor can perform traditional surgery or laser surgery using the LANAP method. The Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP), offers an alternative to traditional gum surgery, eliminating the use of scalpels or sutures. The laser eliminates the need for cutting the gums but is able to clean away the diseased tissue while protecting the still healthy tissue; this results in the elimination of the disease and the pockets. Because there is no cutting the gums heal faster with less pain.
Our doctor also uses the LANAP
Monsey periodontal treatment for many other procedures including dental implants, gum grafting, periodontal plastic surgery, bone grafting, sedation and All-On-4 implants for dentures. Please an appointment with our office to make sure your gums are healthy and disease free.
