Dentures are a crucial part of the oral, mental and physical health of people who wear them. For those who aren’t familiar with the process of getting and using them, it’s natural to have questions. The office of Tiger Periodontics and Dental Implants is here to help!
Tiger Periodontics and Dental Implants is enthusiastic about treating your oral health. Types of Dentures
Complete dentures are for those with no teeth. They sit on your gum line. The dentures are held in place by dental adhesive or dental implants. Partial dentures attach to existing natural teeth and sit on the gum line. They can also be held in place with dental implants.
Their Care
Remove them every night for cleaning and sanitizing. Use a denture brush or soft toothbrush along with denture paste to gently scrub every surface. Though dentures are made of very strong plastic, it’s not as durable as natural enamel, so regular toothpaste can scratch them. You can also soak them in a denture-cleaning solution; carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Rinse the dentures thoroughly and soak them overnight in a water-based cleaning solution.
Adjusting to Them
It takes a bit of time to get used to wearing and eating with dentures. You’ll be able to eat normally after a short while, though sticky and hard foods may be an initial challenge. Never chew gum; it could break the seal and loosen the appliance.
Sleeping Overnight With Them In
It’s not a good idea. Your jawbones and gums need a break from the pressure that dentures assert.
Color-Coordinating A Partial to Existing Teeth
No problem! Prosthodontists are experts in matching the colors and shades of partials to remaining natural teeth.
The office of Tiger Periodontics and Dental Implants has a well-established reputation for providing excellent care and compassionate service. New patients are always welcome to our state-of-the-art facility, your resource for the best in modern prosthodontics. Please call us to schedule an appointment.

Just as with all of your possessions that you value and use every day, your dentures must be stored properly when not in use. You rely on them to speak, eat and retain the natural shape of your mouth. These devices comprise full and partial dentures. Storing your dentures correctly helps ward off damage to them and keeps them fresh and clean.
The office of Tiger Periodontics and Dental Implants is committed to providing all of our patients with excellent attention and care. A prosthodontist is a dentist with advanced specialty training who create optimal oral health in function and appearance. During your initial appointment, you will tell us what you want us to accomplish. We’ll then evaluate your situation, answer all of your questions, and explain your options clearly and concisely.
Dentures must be cleaned because, as with natural teeth, they can turn into a breeding ground for bacteria and plaque. Proper denture storage helps them not dry out or lose their shape, which would make them lose their shape.
It’s best to stow your dentures in clean water or a denture-cleaning solution. The solution can reduce the fungi and bacteria that naturally form, as well as the odors that would result. When using a solution that employs dissolving tablets, don’t use hot water, it can make the dentures warp. And always adhere to a solution’s instructions for use. If you keep your dentures in a solution, rinse them before returning them to your mouth. Denture-storage solutions include chemicals that, if swallowed, can promote pain, burns and vomiting.
