Gum disease is a serious health issue of the oral cavity and can lead to tooth and bone loss in the jaw if not treated quickly. Dr. Jonathan Tiger, DMD has been treating patients with advanced gum disease using a
Spring Valley laser gum treatment that is a better alternative to traditional surgical intervention.
Gum disease, periodontitis, occurs when bacteria forms along the gum line between the teeth and gums. As the bacteria increases it begins to pull the gums away from the teeth forming deep pockets between the two where the bacteria colonies continue to thrive. The deeper the pockets the worse the gum disease gets. Soon the gums will no longer be able to support the teeth and they will begin to weaken. For advanced gum disease surgery was the solution where the periodontist would hand clean the bacteria out of the pockets, remove any plaque and tartar from the teeth and then use stitches to reattach the gums to the teeth, a process with a long recovery. Our
Spring Valley laser gum treatment uses the LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) to rid the mouth of gum disease, which avoids the need for cutting and sutures.
During the FDA cleared LANAP procedure our doctor will use a special laser to rid the gums and deep pockets of the bacteria and then clean away any tartar and plaque from the teeth. The laser will then sterilize the area completely. The LANAP laser will not burn the mouth and the patient should feel no discomfort. Our doctor will then use the laser to create a small fibrin clot, which will naturally foster reattachment of the gum to the tooth without the need for sutures or any other procedure. The result of our
Spring Valley laser gum treatment is a vibrant mouth with renewed gum health. Call our office for an appointment today to be evaluated for the presence of gum disease and to discuss the best treatment options.
